Time and Space Exhibition at Maakplaats

We are excited to announce that our video art exhibition, Time and Space, at Maakplaats, Roermond has officially opened on November 2, 2024! It was a wonderful opening surrounded by many talented artists, each in their own discipline. We’re thankful to be a part of this exhibit which will continue to be on display until the 16th of December, 2024. 

Time and Space is a collection of two transcendental short films: Lunar Phases and 17 Over Blauw. Both films invite the viewer to take a moment of rest and feel as they experience time and space.

Lunar Phases

This 3 minute film explores the passing of time through visuals of the moon. As the shadow and light of the moon are constantly shifting, we feel how the universal clock is ticking. 

Lunar Phases (Maan Getijden) makes use of statically composed shots of the moon. With the aim to not interfere with the feeling of time through motion. The perception of time can quickly be influenced by external stimuli such as movement, music or distractions. With Lunar Phases we attempted to remove each of these distractions and let the viewer experience time at their own pace.

We also featured our two moon art prints in the exhibition for those who had seen the film to enjoy. The art prints were made in a collaboration with NEO Print Shop in Roermond, who were also a key figure in organizing the Maakplaats exhibition.

17 Over Blauw

As a spiritual counterpart to the Lunar Phases film, we presented 17 Over Blauw (17 Past Blauw). This film showcases an ever ticking clock with its arm always set to 17 minutes past an abstract blue section. The clock has been sped up to tick once every second, instead of once every minute.

17 Over Blauw explores the feeling of how much space has been traversed within time. The arm of the clock moves the same amount of distance in every increment of time. The increments of time are fixed, however the perception of time will be different for each viewer experiencing the film.

We also featured our two 17 Over Blauw art prints (also in collaboration with NEO) at the entrance of our video art exhibition.

Maakplaats Exhibition

To all of you who live in the Netherlands, it would be an honor to see you at the exhibition. Maakplaats is an initiative to expand on top of the cultural infrastructure that is ever present in Roermond. The institution brings together artists, entrepreneurs in the creative economy and the art-loving public.
