Lighting Mastery — 002

Hello, today this is the second video in our Lighting Mastery series in which me and Cinematographer Erick Alcaraz will explore the different styles of lighting throughout art. In this video we will explore the soft and diffused lighting from Rembrandt van Rijn. We will use Cinema 4D and Corona Renderer to set up the lighting on a scene. We start with a dark scene of an old man sitting in a traditional Dutch 17th century home.

We then start lighting the scene using a single strong 30K light source that's being pointed at a white bounce. The soft light that's reflecting from this bounce can then still be filtered through a diffusion frame for additional softness. We then start adding subtle spotlights and a light for the fireplace to create depth in our frame. The scene was built with Quixel Megascans and the clothing was made by Charlotte Simons in Marvelous Designer.

Hope you have a great day! Cheers, Leo and Erick
