Mixing Red, Green and Blue light adds up to the illusion of white light.
In this tutorial I will cover 3 different setups to achieving realistic CGI Screens.
I'll be using Cinema 4D and Chaos Corona but the techniques can be applied in any 3D application.
You'll want to separate your footage into the 3 color channels.
You can do that easily inside of Photoshop or After Effects.
Try out the Shift Channels Effect.
There is still a difference from achieving an LCD, CRT or LED Screen.
Each has a different method of blending your colors and light to get the right result.
Want to achieve realistic Moiré Patterns in your Screens?
Follow these techniques and you will achieve highly believable digital monitors in your film.
Remember that you can always decrease the size of your diode alpha. In our examples we have made them a bit too big to make the effect more obvious.
For photo-realism you only want it to affect the colours and moiré of your render.
